How do I check if I am due a Cold Weather Payment?
The quickest method is the cold weather payment checker on GOV.UK – enter your postcode to see active payments in your postcode district. No separate application is needed; if you receive certain benefits (Pension Credit, Universal Credit, Income Support, etc.) and your area qualifies, the £25 is paid automatically into your usual account.
When will I get my £140 Cold Weather Payment?
There is no single “£140” payment; the £25 is paid per qualifying cold week. If your area experiences seven consecutive days of freezing temperatures, you will receive £25 for that week. For the full winter, if multiple cold spells occur, you could receive several payments, but each is £25, not a lump sum of £140.
