Ruby Rose: Batwoman Star, Actress, RWBY Character, and More

Born: March 20, 1986 · Birthplace: Melbourne, Australia · Known for: Orange Is the New Black and Batwoman · Name conflict: Also the RWBY protagonist and Ruby Rose Turner

Six data points, one pattern: the biographical basics are stable and well-documented, while the questions people actually search for tend to sit outside the confirmed record.

Who has Ruby Rose been with?

Ruby Rose Langenheim’s dating life has drawn steady celebrity coverage over the years. Past relationships, including a reported engagement, are part of that public record. The harder question is the present tense: no current partner is confirmed in reliable sources as of the latest reporting.

Who is Ruby Rose’s current partner?

• No current partner is confirmed in reliable sources as of the latest reporting.
• Reports that name a specific current partner are not backed by a dated, sourced statement from Rose.
• Her February 2026 Instagram post, which lists video games, genealogy, art, and bowling as hobbies, does not mention a partner.

Does Ruby Rose have a husband or wife?

• No marriage is confirmed in reliable sources.
• A reported engagement from her past is not a marriage.
• No husband or wife appears in any dated interview or statement in the current record.

The implication: “Who has Ruby Rose been with?” is a search query with no stable answer, because the only verified status right now is that no current partner is on the record.

Does Ruby Rose have any children?

No. No child has been confirmed for Ruby Rose Langenheim in reliable sources. Family questions about “Ruby Rose” almost always trace back to the same name collision: Ruby Rose Turner is a different person with a different family life, and the two get blended into one search result.

The pattern: the children question exists because of entity confusion, not because of anything in the actor’s public record. Once you identify which Ruby Rose the query means, the answer is straightforward.

What is Ruby Rose doing today?

For someone who dominated headlines in 2020, Ruby Rose has been quiet on screen since. In February 2026, she posted on Instagram about life during her break, listing video games, genealogy, art, and bowling among her current hobbies. She’s not the only Australian actor whose personal life keeps outpacing her filmography — see the coverage of Rebel Wilson for a parallel story.

Is Ruby Rose sober?

• Sobriety is not established in reliable sources; no dated statement from Rose on the subject appears in the current record.
• Any claim that she is or isn’t sober goes beyond what’s confirmed.

Where does Ruby Rose live?

• Her current city of residence is not confirmed in the sources reviewed.
• What is documented: Melbourne as her birthplace and a television career built around U.S. productions.

What does Ruby Rose post on Instagram?

• February 2026: a post listing video games, genealogy, art, and bowling as current hobbies.
• That post is the most recent dated statement from Rose referenced in this guide.

Why this matters: “What is Ruby Rose doing today?” has a short answer — the roles have slowed, and her own social feed is the most recent dated evidence of how she’s filling the time.

Why is Ruby Rose not acting?

She is not acting right now because the on-screen credits stopped after Batwoman — and why they stopped is one of the more disputed exit stories in recent TV memory. The cast-and-exit sequence is documented; the “why” depends on which account you read.

What Ruby Rose movies and TV shows is she known for?

• Stella Carlin in Orange Is the New Black — her breakout role.
• John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017).
• xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017).
• Kate Kane/Batwoman in Batwoman (The CW, 2019–2020).

Rose was cast as Batwoman in 2018 (WBRZ, Baton Rouge news station), and the series was promoted as the first superhero television show led by an openly LGBTQ+ hero (Cosmopolitan UK, UK lifestyle magazine). In May 2020 she announced she would not return for a second season (Them, LGBTQ+ publication); her initial statement thanked the producers and cast but gave no specific reason (Cosmopolitan UK, UK lifestyle magazine).

Months later, Rose offered more detail. She said an on-set back injury contributed to the difficulty of returning, the COVID-19 shutdown pushed her to reflect on the show and her role, and at the time she described the decision as a mutual agreement, per Nine.com.au (Australian news site).

Then the story flipped. In October 2021, Warner Bros. Television said Rose’s option for season two had not been exercised after complaints about workplace behavior were reviewed privately, while Rose publicly alleged unsafe working conditions, injuries, and misconduct connected to the production, per Vanity Fair (Hollywood magazine).

• Rose disputed any characterization that she had voluntarily quit; Warner Bros. Television rejected her allegations with a conflicting account (Los Angeles Times, U.S. newspaper).
• The recast followed quickly: Javicia Leslie joined season two as Ryan Wilder, a new character who assumed the Batwoman mantle (Vanity Fair, Hollywood magazine).

How much money does Ruby Rose have?

• Net worth figures online are estimates only; no official number exists.
• Celebrity-wealth sites rarely agree, so any single figure is a guess.

The trade-off: the exit dispute made Ruby Rose a more famous name and a harder casting pitch at the same time. Visibility and employability moved in opposite directions.

What are Ruby Rose’s personality traits?

Personality reads on a celebrity are someone else’s opinion. Ruby Rose’s own public arc — Melbourne model and DJ turned TV presenter, then Hollywood actor — carried a confident, outspoken tone in early coverage, and she has remained a prominent LGBTQ+ public figure throughout. The scrutiny isn’t unique to her; Chaz Bono has navigated a similarly public personal life.

Why don’t we like Ruby Rose?

• The phrase is a search query, not a verified verdict.
• Negative coverage clusters around the Batwoman exit and the 2021 dispute, when Rose and Warner Bros. Television traded allegations.
• Earlier coverage of her casting was largely celebratory — Batwoman was promoted as the first superhero series led by an openly LGBTQ+ hero.

The implication: “Why don’t we like Ruby Rose?” is really asking about a specific stretch of time — the exit announcement in 2020 and the dispute coverage in 2021 — not a settled verdict on her personality.

Which characters are named Ruby?

The biggest source of Ruby Rose confusion isn’t a person at all: it’s a name shared across four separate search targets. Sorting them is the difference between landing on a filmography and landing on an animation wiki.

What is the RWBY character Ruby Rose?

• Ruby Rose is the protagonist of Rooster Teeth’s animated series RWBY, which premiered June 8, 2013, per Wikipedia (community encyclopedia).
• The character is voiced in English by Lindsay Jones, again per Wikipedia.
• She is not played or voiced by Ruby Rose Langenheim — same name, different entity.

Is Ruby Rose Turner in a relationship?

• Ruby Rose Turner is a separate, younger American actress and singer with her own career.
• The sources reviewed here don’t confirm a current relationship for Turner.
• Relationship searches about “Ruby Rose” that mention a younger actress are about Turner, not Langenheim.

Is Ruby Rose a band or DJ act?

• Ruby Rose Langenheim worked as a model, DJ, and TV host before acting put her on magazine covers.
• YouTube hosts an official Ruby Rose channel with DJ-era footage.
• Spotify lists an artist named Ruby Rose; verify the credits before equating it to the actress.
• “Ruby Rose makeup” searches are often beauty-style queries, not references to a person.

The pattern: nearly every contradiction about Ruby Rose online dissolves once you identify which entity the search engine actually returned.

Three names, one search box: this is how to tell the Ruby Roses apart at a glance.

Ruby Rose timeline

• 1986 — Ruby Rose Langenheim is born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
• 2013 — Orange Is the New Black premieres; the series later becomes her breakout credit when she joins as Stella Carlin.
• 2017 — Appears in John Wick: Chapter 2 and xXx: Return of Xander Cage.
• 2018 — Cast as Kate Kane/Batwoman for The CW (WBRZ, Baton Rouge news station).
• 2019 — Batwoman premieres on The CW.
• May 2020 — Announces she will not return for season two (Them, LGBTQ+ publication).
• October 2021 — Rose and Warner Bros. Television give conflicting accounts of the exit.
• February 2026 — In an Instagram post, Rose lists video games, genealogy, art, and bowling as current hobbies.

The read on this timeline: the documented milestones cluster between 2018 and 2021, then the record goes quiet — which is exactly why “what is Ruby Rose doing today?” is so hard to answer.

What’s confirmed and what isn’t

Where the record is solid

• Ruby Rose Langenheim is Australian and played Kate Kane/Batwoman in season one of the CW series (per Cosmopolitan UK, UK lifestyle magazine).
• She announced in May 2020 that she would not return for season two (Them, LGBTQ+ publication).
• RWBY’s Ruby Rose is a fictional character, separate from the actress (Wikipedia, community encyclopedia).
• Rose disputed the voluntary-quit framing of her exit (Los Angeles Times, U.S. newspaper).

Where the record gets murky

• Her exact current relationship status.
• Whether she will return to acting.
• The accuracy of net worth estimates.
• The full circumstances behind the Batwoman exit — Rose and Warner Bros. Television gave conflicting accounts.
• Whether “Ruby Rose makeup” refers to a brand or to her beauty style.

The pattern: the confirmed facts about Ruby Rose are sparse enough that the open questions outnumber them — which is exactly why source-checking matters more here than in a typical celebrity profile.

What Ruby Rose and Warner Bros. said

Rose said an on-set back injury made returning difficult, the COVID-19 shutdown prompted “reflection” about her role, and the decision was a “mutual agreement.”

— Ruby Rose, as reported by Nine.com.au (Australian news site), October 2020

Rose “disputed the characterization that she had voluntarily quit” Batwoman.

— Ruby Rose, as reported by Los Angeles Times (U.S. newspaper), October 2021

Warner Bros. Television said Rose’s option “was not exercised after complaints about workplace behavior were reviewed privately.”

— Warner Bros. Television, as reported by Vanity Fair (Hollywood magazine), October 2021

The consistency check: both sides agree the exit happened; they disagree on almost everything else — which is why any single-version account of Ruby Rose’s career break deserves a skeptical read.

The takeaway

Ruby Rose the search result is not one person. It’s an Australian actor with a disputed Warner Bros. exit, a younger American actress-singer, an animated hero from Rooster Teeth, and a pile of music profiles wearing the same name. The question people actually ask — “what happened to Ruby Rose?” — is best answered with sources and dates, because both versions of the Batwoman story are still on the record. For anyone searching “Ruby Rose” in 2026, the move is clear: check which entity the headline means and when the source was published, or you’ll keep blending four different Ruby Roses into one biography.
